Form 8 International is composed of eight experienced sculptors (four couples) – who have discovered a similar approach to working practices. We all collaborate with our partners, and share the broad range of skills required for Public Art. Philip is also a qualified landscape architect and Kip and Stanton both studied architecture. We have many years of direct experience in liaising with architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, and various design professionals in our own countries and internationally.
Bews/Gorvin and Jackson/Fawkes live in the South West of the UK, and have collaborated together on many public art projects, including works for Abingdon, Belfast, Cardiff and Wolverhampton. Jackson/Fawkes operate from their large fully equipped studio and have detailed understanding of the many processes used in all forms of glass. Bews/Gorvin, Myklebust/Sears and Macklem/Jones have large studios and work in a wide range of materials. Each couple have an interest in extending the use of cast glass in their projects.
In 2005, Macklem worked in Bews/Gorvin and Jackson/Fawkes studios to acquire knowledge about glass casting.
In 2007 Bews/Gorvin, Myklebust/ Sears with assistance from Macklem/Jones created the Art+Fire Project on the Banks of the Mississippi in Wisconsin, USA.
In 2008 Macklem/Jones assisted Bews with the Severn Boar Fire Event at Taurus Crafts, Lydney, UK where Macklem had a short residency, exhibition and lecture.
We are interested in working collaboratively on public art projects, and also looking to involve composer/pianist Lola Perrin www.lolaperrin.com to combine music/sound with public art.
