Tri-Flight, Filton, Bristol

Philip Bews Diane Gorvin
Sculpture for public sites

North Bristol Park, Filton, Bristol
Commissioned by South Gloucestershire Council and Terramond Developments

Materials - Portland stone, stainless steel and brass. A 3m high, triple-form, stepped sculpture which acknowledges the following local factors as sources:

The view of aeroplane tail planes waiting to fly - lined up on the runway at Filton Airport which is opposite the site.

Concorde - which has a strong association with Filton, Bristol.

Rugby - was played on the site and a new pitch provided by the developer.

The sculpture also acts as a sign to the site and each of the three attenuated tail planes forms a directional angle towards North Bristol Park.
